5.3 Disconnected verify

On this page you name the disconnected verify procedure. This hub stays on the network. You do not demonstrate a data diode or USB drop during the ten-minute walk.

Why this control exists

Some customer environments verify signatures without reaching the public Rekor or Fulcio endpoints. A key-based cosign verify --key flow is the procedure you rehearse offline. The cluster for this demo remains networked.

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish keyless verify (live on this hub) from key-based verify (named procedure)

  • Avoid claiming a physical air gap on this environment

Your change

Say one sentence: disconnected verify is a key-based procedure; this cluster stays networked. Keep the live Check on keyless verify from 5.1.

Check

No additional cluster command. Confirm the sentence is on the spoken script. Optional offline rehearsal uses a local public key and cosign verify --key per product docs. Never commit cosign.key.

Official documentation

  • Cosign key-based verification

  • Disconnected transfer playbooks for artifacts and trust roots

Key takeaways

  • Practice the procedure. Do not invent an air gap on a networked demo hub.

  • Trust roots and keys stay off git.
